More Information

The cross-country trails in detail

From a leisurely tour along the Lech river to a more demanding route through the Zugertal valley, each trail has its own special appeal.

Lech to Zug
2,8 km easy

The trail begins in the centre of Lech at the covered wooden bridge by Rüfiplatz. From there, it leads along the Lech river and through the forest to Zug. The route has only gentle inclines and is therefore particularly suitable for beginners and leisure cross-country skiers. Along the way, there are several opportunities to take a short break. Once you arrive in Zug, you can return to Lech via the same route.

Zürs to Flexenpass to Zürs
2,6 km moderate

The starting point of this high-altitude trail is the Trittkopfbahn I in Zürs. The route leads uphill in a southerly direction towards Flexenpass. Thanks to its sunny location, it offers beautiful views of the surrounding winter landscape. Several climbs and descents make the route varied, but they do require a certain level of confidence on cross-country skis. It is therefore only partially suitable for beginners. At Flexenpass, the Flexenhäusl is a lovely place to stop for a break before returning to Zürs via the hilly trail.

Zug to Älpele to Spullerwald to Zug
6.6 km moderate – challenging

This circular route starts at the base station of the Zug mountain lift and first leads along the Lech river into the Zugertal valley. Up to Gasthaus Älpele, the trail is mostly flat to gently ascending. There, you have the opportunity to take a break and enjoy a stop. Afterwards, the route branches off towards Spullerwald. Through the forest, it then leads back down the valley. After crossing the Lech river, the trail returns to the starting point in Zug. The climbs and descents make this route especially interesting for experienced cross-country skiers.

Zug to Älpele to Tannlägeralpe to Älpele to Zug
10,5 km challenging

The longest cross-country ski tour in Lech Zürs also begins at the base station of the Zug mountain lift. Passing the Zug fish pond, the trail follows the Lech river to Gasthaus Älpele and then continues into the quiet Zugertal valley. Over partly hilly terrain, you reach the Tannlägeralpe, where the route forms a generous loop. Afterwards, it leads back to Zug via Älpele. Since turning back is possible at any time, the length of the tour can be adapted individually. For the full route, good fitness and sufficient provisions are recommended.

Renting the right equipment

You can conveniently rent the right cross-country skiing equipment on site. Strolz Filomena offers complete sets for both classic cross-country skiing and skating. The sports shop is located directly by the trail and is also easy to reach by car. On site, you will receive personal advice and equipment that matches your ability and preferred cross-country skiing technique.

Cross-country skiing courses

Would you like to try cross-country skiing or feel more confident on the trail? The Skischule Lech offers group and private lessons for beginners and advanced cross-country skiers. Individual cross-country skiing lessons can also be booked at the Skischule Oberlech. You will learn the right technique from the ground up or work specifically on gliding more easily and efficiently through the winter landscape. Especially during peak season, it is worth reserving your preferred course early.
